Department of Psychology Seminar Rooms

The Policy and Planning Committee has discussed regular scheduling of courses in department seminar rooms and recommends the following:

Room 368C will be available for regular scheduling for as many courses as fit without time conflicts. Courses should not be scheduled in our remaining department seminar rooms, which will remain available for committee meetings, research meetings, conducting research, area meetings, and oral defenses.

Room 368C seats 10 people comfortably around the seminar table. There is room for two or three more people in chairs along the wall. So clearly this room would not be appropriate for undergraduate courses (which should have larger enrollments) or for most graduate courses (which should remain open to MA students and students from other areas), especially graduate courses that count towards fulfilling departmental distribution requirements.

So the courses for which scheduling in Room 368C might be appropriate are courses with enrollments guaranteed to be small enough to fit (e.g., graduate courses numbered 860 and higher) or courses that after the first few classes have met are determined to have final enrollments small enough to fit.

If you would like to schedule your course in Room 368C:

STEP 1: Inquire through Staff whether 368C is available on the days and times for which your course is scheduled. If so, schedule Room 368C for your course.

STEP 2: Inform Rita Hamilton, so that she can cancel the department's commitment for a centrally-scheduled room for your course.

STEP 3: On the first day of class, go to the centrally-scheduled room and inform students who may be present of the new location for your course.
