Research and Internship Opportunities
A lot of research in the department relies upon the work of undergraduates who choose to spend their time gaining experience with psychological research. Research Assistants generally arrange to work in a lab on a semester-by-semester basis, and often earn credit through PSY 498.
If you are interested in gaining experience, check out these lists:
- Labs and programs in the department that seek research assistants
- Opportunities in the community or with faculty off-campus
* Note that these lists only include openings submitted by faculty in the department. Several openings may not be listed. Keep an eye out for more opportunities.
Also check out lists of openings maintained by Psi Chi.
The Psychology Honors Program requires students to work closely with faculty conducting an original research project. Students who are not enrolled in the Honors Program can still take courses specifically designed to assist undergraduates in gaining research experience. Also see faculty interests for qualified faculty members to potentially supervise you.
Once you have found a possible opening, you need to make contact to get started! Recruiting undergraduate research assistants is a common practice. Unless an application says otherwise, go ahead and email the contact person or professor directly.
